The Argonauts, a re-imagining of the myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece, is an original piece of dance theatre from the award-winning director/choreographer Ben Duke of Lost Dog, in collaboration with Candoco Dance Company, with a group of disabled and non-disabled performers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine.

The Argonauts was created by Lost Dog Artistic Director Ben Duke, working in collaboration with Candoco Artists Welly O’Brien & Jemima Hoadley, supported by British Council.  It is the culmination of the in-depth grass roots work Candoco have been facilitating with disabled artists in the Caucuses over a 6 year period.

The first iteration of the work was performed in Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, as part of Candoco Dance Company’s tour of the South Caucuses in 2019.  The Argonauts was due to be developed and performed at Queen Elizabeth Hall in June 2020, but due to the Covid19 pandemic and resulting lockdown, unfortunately this had to be postponed.
